Tu vuoi fa l'Americano: part 2

Hello, me again on your screens!

Today (and yesterday was the same) I woke up at 6:30 in the morning. I'm still trying to find my balance in the new city. Today we are going to visit NY alone, we are going to find a job and an house. We already have some good ideas but nothing in our hands.

I want to share my first impressions about NY.
  • Here you can smell different tastes behind all the corners. It's so strange how you can pass from Hot Dog, to Roast Beef, to Chinese food, to sh***t in few steps along the street. On side this is great, because you can really feel how different cultures can stay together and cooperate. On the other hand it could happen that sometimes you smell a very good hotdog and after a step you breathe the final product of your hot dog... :-)
  • Beside being a huge city, NY is very clean and extremely well organized.
  • One more thing that impressed me is how all the immigrants are so well organized as well. They have their formal organizations (like Italians immigrants i.e.), they go out always together and they are always ready to support each other. I think that this for a person that arrives alone without knowing anyone is very helpful.
  • Everything here is big. They don't have any mid size. You can see something small around you just if close to it there's something bigger. Somehow it's scaring because you can feel American mentality of being the best and when you compare to Italian mentality you feel frustrated. Anyway, once you get used to it, I think that you can really see beyond the appearance and start to appreciate their "think bigger" mentality.
Well, these are some random morning thoughts. Very soon more pics of NY.

The day is starting, now I go to wake up Michele, have a nice breakfast and we'll start again to eat the big apple!

Cheers and peace!
